Anti-Aging Supplements
The debate on whether or not anti-aging supplements are actually effective is one that has been going on for some time and does not seem to be going away any time soon. However scientists seem to be concluding study after study that they do have some positive effect, even if they’re not the fountain of youth that some may hope for
Many scientists and studies have proven that these supplements increase levels of DHEA and melatonin. While the body produces a lot of these two elements during youth, as a person ages the levels are significantly depleted. Arguments for anti-aging supplements continue to say that these supplements are rich in nutrients called bioflavaoids. These nutrients help to strengthen blood vessels and also contain anti-inflammatory components. It is mainly the anti-inflammatory components that help to slow the signs of aging. While bioflavaoids help with the outwardly signs of aging such as wrinkles, loose skin and discoloration, they can also help to prevent diseases that come as a result of aging. This is because they work with the muscles in the cardiovascular system to help them relax and this can reduce a person’s chance of high blood pressure.
It is important to remember that while anti-aging supplements may be effective, they can only work their best if the person taking them is taking other measures to slow the aging process and lead a healthy lifestyle. This includes eating a well-balanced diet, avoiding overexposure to the sun, drinking plenty of water, and remaining physically active. Those who take the supplements should also not be disappointed after taking them for a few days and not noticing any difference. The supplements do not work immediately and it may be two or more weeks before the person starts to really see the anti-aging effects.
