Featured ArticleDeconstructing Anti-Aging Products
All good quality anti-aging products will contain a form of antioxidants. These antioxidants combat free radicals and by ridding the body of these free radicals, it is better able to work efficiently and properly because of the unsafe oxygen the radicals release. By keeping the amount of free radicals under control through the use of antioxidants, it slows down the aging process significantly. Antioxidants are also important because they can repair damaged skin cells and help to create new cells to take its place. Acids such as Beta-Hydroxy Salicylic Acid or Alpha-Hydroxy Acids work in anti-aging products to remove dead skin cells. These skin cells build up in the pores and can make the skin appear older than it is. By exfoliating with one of these acids, skin will appear brighter instantly. It’s important that you find a formula containing these acids that is suited for your skin type. Because the acids can sometimes be harsh to the skin, people with dry or sensitive skin may find certain formulas too strong for their delicate skin type. Dead skin cells can also discolor, which will also make skin appear older. Vitamins in anti-aging products can also help but it’s important that you don’t rely on them too heavily. Although these vitamins such as C, D, E, and K are always helpful to the body and do contain some free radicals that will help to fight aging, things such as Vitamin C creams should not be confused with anti-aging products. These types of products have trouble passing through the skin effectively and it’s unclear as to how much help they provide when they do penetrate the skin.
